We are proud to announce the successful foundation stone laying ceremony of a next-generation Speed Breeding Facility at the ICAR–Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana.
The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), New Delhi, marking a significant step forward in strengthening India’s agricultural research infrastructure.
This advanced facility is designed to accelerate crop improvement programs by enabling multiple generations of crops within a single year under controlled environmental conditions. The initiative aims to compress breeding timelines and enhance research efficiency, supporting the development of resilient, high-performing crop varieties.
The ceremony was held in the presence of esteemed dignitaries and senior officials, including:

The Speed Breeding Facility represents a major advancement in agricultural innovation, reinforcing ICAR’s commitment to modernizing research capabilities and supporting farmers with improved crop solutions.
